Who is Traci?

A Christian. A Minister’s Wife. A Mother. A Teacher. A Writer.

I am here because I have a secret confession to make: I love to write! After teaching choral music for 21 years with a Masters in Music Education and a National Board Certification in Vocal Music, I think it’s about time someone knew that my true passion is actually WRITING! It’s a secret that I had to convince myself was worthy enough to share. I was afraid to tell anyone about the 4″ binders (yes, that’s plural!) on my bookshelf packed with short stories, plays and poems! Why!? Because ‘music is her thing’. Well, guess what? I am a WRITER. Shout it from the rooftop, my friends, THAT is why I’m here!

What is your passion? No, really? Not “what do people say you’re good at” or “what do people expect you to stay in your lane and do”? What is that thing that after you do it, year heart feels relieved and recharged at the same time? Your core has been emptied out but you are left completely full all at once? It is that one thing that every time you get the opportunity to do it, you get excited and a little giggly inside. That is your passion! That is your heart’s desire.

But wait! What about God’s purpose for our lives? How can we be sure that what we are passionate about is what God would have us to do? Doesn’t His will matter? Of course it does! It matters above everything else we strive to do!

One of the first verses I remember learning as a child was Psalm 37:4 – “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” It wasn’t until my late teens that the next verse (verse 5) of that passage was brought to my attention and I realized that it was the key to everything in my life: “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” (NKJV)

Everyday I commit my way to God and I search for His insight. I need His guidance and wisdom. I could not enter the classroom of public education as an educator or sit on the second pew of the church as a pastor’s wife without completely trusting the desires of my heart to Christ. Also, being a mother is NO joke, especially with teen and preteen daughters! Bottom line, I am NOT doing this thing called life without Christ. The desires of my heart fall into place when I put Him first.

I don’t know why you clicked on my page, but I am so glad you did! Join me as I go on a treasure hunt for God’s pearls of wisdom in daily living and find the courage to write about it. There is so much He wants us to learn about His love for us and His desire for us to know Him intimately. He wants us to thrive in our passion and live abundantly in His grace.

I’m super excited to WRITE and share my experiences with you! (I just giggled!) My hope and prayer is that you will find the courage to live the life God has purposed for you, and that you dedicate your passion to His glory!
