“So many Christmas songs…so little time!”

#8 Oh Holy Night
Remember what this is really all about.
When I made my list of songs for this 12 Day challenge – I had no idea what I would say for “Oh Holy Night”, but I loved the song, and I knew I had to include it. I figured that I would come up with something when the time came to post.
I did not.
I read over the lyrics several times, and I still could not find or fashion anything clever to share.
I usually pray before every post and I specifically quote Psalm 19:14 before I write anything, so I pleaded to God for help with my writer’s block this morning. I told Him that I read over the lyrics and background history of the song several times and I still couldn’t find or fashion anything clever to share.
Exactly – was the only word that echoed in my heart.
Of all of the songs I have selected for my 12 Days of Christmas Carols, “Oh Holy Night” stands alone with its message.
The hustle and bustle of this season can be so consuming that we forget what this season is all about – celebrating and reverencing the birth of Christ.
“Oh Holy Night” was set to music by Adolphe Adam in 1847. Take a moment to remember what this season is really all about and reflect on God’s plan for the redemption of humanity.
Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
MARIAH CAREY – I couldn’t leave her version off just because I used her voice yesterday. She still has one of the best recordings of “Oh Holy Night”!
KELLY CLARKSON – I had never heard Kelly Clarkson sing “Oh Holy Night” until I researched the song. It is beautiful.
JOSH GROBAN – another great rendition.
SWV – This talented group from the 90’s has a Christmas album that deserves more recognition. They do a fabulous job with harmonizing “Oh Holy Night”
