Social media has allowed us all to keep in touch. Having the world at our fingertips makes it possible to laugh, talk and keep up with old friends and even make new friends. I am “friends” with people from almost every phase and every circle of my life. They follow me. I follow them. At times, I have had to unfriend some along the way and move on. There are other times when something will come up in each others lives that will remind us of “the way we were” and we are able to pick up as if no time has passed. I enjoy taking part in the milestones of life with those that I hold dear to me.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could scroll down the news feed of our hearts and be reminded of our dreams and passions daily? Our dreams are not on social media. We don’t always have the constant reminder of what we are born to do. We do not receive notifications to get up and get moving on those God-given dreams.
I wrote a poem a while back that talks about a “lost friend”. Perhaps it will shed a little light on the subject.
Missing: Dream I ignored her for reasons I knew well. And with hope, I turned my back authorizing her restraint into a chamber of silence. Tell her that I miss her. Tell her she was right. Tell her she is undaunted, and her audacity I will not fight. Dreams can be big, but Dreams can be lost. Hold on to your Dreams, at any cost. -Traci D. Fuller
It is so easy to get caught up in living our daily routines and forget about our dreams. Get moving on that dream and don’t let it get lost in the shuffle of life. It is true that some dreams change and modify, but those GOD-given, BIG-sized dreams were given to you for a reason! Become a mover and a shaker of your dream and watch God open doors!
Little POW-wow (Pearls of Wisdom)
- Talking about your dreams is a step, but it is not enough. And, quite frankly, you might need to keep some dreams quiet to some people. BUT, you can always write about your dreams! (You knew that was coming!) Take 60 seconds and write down that one dream you have that is getting lost in the shuffle. Put it somewhere that you can look at it everyday! Pray over it. Ask God to give you direction. He will never fail to guide you!
- If you don’t have a notification on your phone for your dreams, SET ONE! Put an alarm on your device and let it remind you everyday to do something that takes you closer to your dream.
Tune My Heart…
Like many R&B artists, Shirley Murdock’s roots are in gospel music. In her song, “Dream” from 2011, her melodious voice tells us to hold on to our dreams. God can not lie so that dream in us will not die. Take a moment and listen to “Dream” by Shirley Murdock and let that song encourage your dream.

2 Corinthians 1:20 says:
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (NKJV)

This is a great piece. Thank you for the reminder that dreaming is good and putting action to it is even better.
